PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

As a Rulang staff or pupil, we are proud to be a member of one of the premier schools of excellence, with a long illustrious history and sterling reputation of providing her pupils with good holistic educational experiences. Rulang aims to provide a well - rounded education that creates learning experiences to develop each pupil’s intellectual capacities, character, aesthetics, sporting and leadership qualities through an enriched forward-looking learning environment beyond the classroom.
I pen this foreword with a sense of pride as I see Rulangnites being nurtured into leaders of character, with a sound moral compass and a passion to serve and excel. Rulang’s Character Development Framework, encompassing three arms – citizenship, leadership and entrepreneurship, was enhanced in 2009 to include socialisation and internationalisation in response to changes in the educational landscape-the evolving demands of a knowledge-based economy and the complexity of a globalised and interdependent world.

As a school, we continue to set high standards and have high expectations of our staff and pupils, in a caring and supportive environment in which everyone feels valued. Together with our key stakeholders and partners, the staff is committed to developing scholars who are well-rounded and compassionate leaders in a forward-looking and innovative learning school community, with a sense of belonging, love and loyalty towards our school and nation.

This year we also look forward to equipping our young to thrive with confidence and fortitude in a much more complex future. Rulang has begun exploring Daniel H. Pink’s Conceptual Age for school improvement and innovation. This theory conceptualises six senses essential for achieving success in the future. With the strong support of its community, stakeholders and partners, Rulang will continue to push the boundaries of innovation and excellence to enrich pupils’ learning experience. On the international front, Rulang actively seeks opportunities for our pupils to deepen their knowledge of international cultures and for our staff to reframe learning and innovation as a Professional Learning Community with our twinning schools from Brunei, China, Japan and Tufts University, USA.
Our achievements thus far in making Rulang the school it is today - a school of excellence - would not have been possible without the unceasing efforts of all the SAC and Alumni members, staff, parents and pupils.  I would like to take this opportunity express my sincere thanks to Rulang’s stakeholders, partners and parents for their unwavering support in our endeavours to nurture the whole child.
